So...any idea why Dan stopped collecting. Usually once the bug bites you, it's terminal! Just curious. Thanks everyone.

The main reason was the big D word. His wife filed for divorce, and he ended up with the clothes on his back and a set of silverware. A bit of an exaggeration, but he did tell me that she basically got everything. He had to sell most of his Japanese collection, and at the time, I was able to pick up several helmets from him. Unfortunately, It is a sad, and all too common tale. I went through it back in the 90's, and had to sell my entire collection of original Civil War uniforms and headgear, so I could buy my ex-wife out of our house. Many a fine collection has been dispersed, because of Divorce..I hate to sound cliche' but "Sometimes you just gotta do what you gotta do", and move on....Todd

Yeah, ..I know Dan hasnt forgotten it yet. He is still collecting on a small scale, and still has some nice lids hidden away, including 2 from Iwo, that were vet bringbacks..but just a heads up, they have my name on them, when its time for them to go to a new home.LOL!

I may joke with him but when you get down to it, it is respect. He is a great father and husband for his family. I am proud to call him a friend.

Got some bad news for ya, buddy: I got my 3 teenagers grown and moved out, traded in High maint wife for a newer, more user-friendly model , got the cars paid off, and now my body is falling apart!

Sorry to hear that Mike. I have also had a few health issues now that I am closer to 50 than 40..YIKES!
