I won this star on ebay, and put it on the helmet pictured. I bought the helmet from Stewarts earlier this year, and wires were in place to hold what was left of the inside liner, so I replaced the wires with what is supposed to be an original ww2 era star.
My camera has seen better days so I'm sure this isn't the best of pictures. The star looked genuine when I bought it, and upon receipt still looks right; my only concern is, putting the star in the helmet the prongs seem a little shorter than the prongs on the inside of another helmet I own. Is it possible that different war time producers could have produced shorter prongs, or perhaps I don't have the prongs on the new star spread as wide as they will go? Does this star look right? Thanks...
