    rubberized canvas gear

    Hey all,
    I am currently writing an article and preparing a presentation on japanese rifle accessories for the up coming MAJC meeting at Allentown PA in october.
    I am trying to gather as much info as I can regarding rubberized canvas gear, especially slings. In particular I am interested in production dates to approximate a date when rubberized items were introduced. Currently the earliest item I have noted is a sling in my collection dated showa 13 (1938) any help will be much apreciated.

    I think 37 is the begining of using rubberized gear. Earliest date I have noted.

      There were two different types of "rubberized" gear. A thick fully coated rubber material with a web or canvas core and a laminated rubberized canvas material. I dont know which came out first.

        Best I can tell right now the rubber laminated or impregnated or what have you, came before the rubber coated. Good detailed info on this gear is not available that I know of.

          The type that totally covers the canvas, as far as ammo pouches go, is around 44 they have rivets instead of stitching.
