Will both these scopes work with the T99 sniper rifle?

I have a T99 sniper rifle http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...ght=t99+sniper and have two options for scopes. The one with the case I thought went to the T97 sniper rifle, but it was listed as being a T97/T99 scope. The other scope without the case was what I thought would be the correct scope.

Will the scope in the case fit a T99? I'd sure appreciate any help. Regards, Robert

The second scope w/o case is most common for type 99 sniper. They did have a scarce "cut back" variation type 99 sniper that used a 2.5 scope as in your picture with case BUT the scope is marked 99 by eye piece.

Jareth, that is very helpful. Does the cutback T99 variant fit the Type 97 sniper rifle as well - did they use the same mount? Regards, Robert

Four (Kokura type 97, Nagoya type 97, Kokura type 99 & Nagoya type 99)variations of 2.5 scopes. I believe they will all fit either type 97 sniper rifles or cutback type 99s. They all look alike, are uniquely marked specifically to rifle BUT that doesn't mean they'll be correct on an incorrect rifle.

Jareth, can you tell from my pictures if my T99 is a "cutback"?

You need to go to the www.gunboards.com to the Japanese section give vic sato your number and he can tell what scope it will take. If that scope with the case is a 99 it will have the gun issue number on the base near the lever in large numbers and 99 cutbacks have the number for issue rifle on th reverse as well as 99 in the number near the eye cup. To tell what scope you need there is a symbol followed by the serial number. The symbol is the series of the rifle. The cutbacks were the early 99's as they developed they found a need to replace the old 2.5 power scope for a better scope with higher power 4x. BTW 97 sopes an 99 cutbacks don't always works for the opposite rifle sometimes you get lucky.

Banzai 64, that is excellent guidance. I'll check with Vic and see what he says - thanks very much. s/f Robert

Robert, that 2.5 scope is not for a T-99 cutback, but for a Kokura T-97 serial # 42XX, made by Nikko (Nihon Kohgaku, present Nikon).

Thanks for that input Edokko; it saves me damaging it trying to get it on! Regards, Robert

It would probably fit both the biggest problem is with unissued scopes as they have never been fitted to a rifle.

This scope is stamped Nikko No. 5633, supposedly. Don't know if that affects anything.

that number is on the end near the eye cup that tells the maker as Edokko said the other numberon the base is the rifle the scope was issued to
