          Mike,

The subject badge is a Naval Association badge and was more than likely wartime made if it is made of plastic. (Earlier badges were enameled.)

Thanks for sharing the photos of the badge with us and nice find!

          Eric

Two additional questions if you please, although I plan to keep it (it is only my fourth Japanese item due to the fact I generally collect only TR items) what is the value of the badge and do you have a translation for the reverse? Many thanks

            Best Regards

              Mike,

Glad I could be of assistance.

Insofar as value, I would price such an item in the $15 to $20 USD price range. (These badges are fairly common so you might want to double check the prices that I quoted by doing a check of completed eBay auctions for additional information.)

As for the characters on the backside of the badge, the kanji translates to "Navy Association."

              Hope this helps.

              Eric

Just to add, this is the Ordinary Member's badge. The association also had higher level badges for Special member, Merit badges etc.

                Best regards,

                Paul L Murphy
