    Sword supplies

    Hi!
Where can I find good sword supplies?
I found a maintenance kit from Fred Lohman. I think I have heard of him before but can't remember. Does anyone know if his products are good?
Any other sellers You can recommend?

    Thank You
    Erik

Check the Germandaggers.com website under maintenance for tips and product suggestions. I don't really see why Japanese sword care would be that different than German dagger and sword care...with a few exceptions.

One other thing is the uchiko is a very, very mild abrasive.

          Sword care

As Bill has said uchiko is the powder that results from the polishing process, you should be extremely careful about whom you purchase it from, the Paul Chen powder has problems as it has coarse and fine powder in same batch which will scratch your sword. Excellent site for all areas of sword care is also www.satcho.com

Thank You for the help. It is very much apreciated as It is very important for me to know where I can find good quality supplies.
How long would a kit last? first time using these kind of products.

Out of curiosity, how do You know if the uchiko is of good quality, is there a simple way to find out?

A note of caution. If you have a blade in polish, never use the same uchigo bag on a dirty or rusty sword, The material will be caught in the bag and when used on a blade in polish, will scratch the finish.

I second Bobs comments about using the same uchiko on polished and unpolished swords. I keep 3 different ones for swords in various conditions. One is just for polished swords. The Japanese made uchiko is all good but I do have very fine uchiko made by Fujishiro that are $120. They are larger and the powder is a little finer.

Thank You for that information. If I ever get another sword I will buy one more bag of uchiko for that one.
Right now I only got one wakizashi.
