    Japanese uniform and field equipment

    Hi guys
I took a few photos the other day when I had one of my Japanese uniforms set up.
I hope you like. The tunic is a cold weather , tropical tunic. Fully lined.
If have any questions or want any more pics just say.
    Michael

        Hi Michael,
I like you set up. All items are in very nice condition.
        Is it a NCO?
        Cheers from New Caledonia

          Hi Phil
its not really any rank at the moment. i have a bit of a mixture of things. the belt is an nco's belt, as dont have enlisted mans one yet. so not a completly real setup but i think it looks good for not until i can get some more items.
          thanks for the moment.

Nice stuff, you tunic is a summer weight the tropicals are unlined and cold weather are wool. The sword belt is for an officer I believe the nco to be made of leather you got as good start thanks for sharing

Yes, some good basic material here. I can only offer some suggestions:
The belt is not correct for this set up as an enlisted man would have the leather belt with ammo pouches or a senior NCO would have a slightly different leather belt with map cases, binoculars, sword or pistol.
The Hokobukuro or ditty bag for small personal items, was not worn outside of the uniform. It would have been kept in the shoulder bag you have or in another pack.
It is perfectly correct not to have rank insignia as they were frequently removed in the field.

thanks guys for the comments and suggestions.
im on the look out for a enlisted mans belt and pouches. so if anyone have a set the dont want let me no.

hi Banzi64 i was just reading you post about tropical tunics. there are 2 types of tropical tunic. one is lightweight and other is a lined heavier weight tunic. i have both types and well set up a new thread showing the difference.

                  thanks again michael

                    Michael,

Very nice grouping of items...thanks for sharing the photos with us!

On a side note, Mike Hewitt, in Uniforms and Equipement of the Imperial Japanese Army in World War II, refers to the subject tunic as winter work tunic.
