    Help with Helmet Insignia

    Hello All,
I am interested in purchasing a Japanese naval/marine helmet in the future, but need to educate myself. Can anyone point out what the differences are between an original naval/marine badge (the metal type) and a reproduction? I have seen a lot of repro badges for sale on ebay, and am tempted to buy one to learn what a real one should not look like. Are there any obvious signs to look for?
    Thanks,
    Lee

        Helmet Insignia......

        Lee,
There was some coverage on this about a month ago so you may be able to look up what was written about helmets & insignia. However, there is alot....more than you would think about the insignia alone. if you want to give me a call (I'm home today) 732-741-5294 I can give you some quick info and hook you up with the real expert in the CA area.
        Hope to helps you out,
        John

Thanks Banzi64. I am assuming that the ones pictured are repros?

Thanks John for the offer. I will send a PM.

              Lee,

If you have not already done so, I recommend following the link below and reading the various posts regarding Japanese Model 90 helmet insignia...

              http://www.wehrmacht-awards.net/foru...nchor+insignia

Finally, in my opinion, most of the loose helmet insignia that you see on eBay are reproductions.

              Hope this helps.
