    Belgium 1st Class Long Service Military Decoration

    Established December 23, 1873, the Long Service Military Decoration is awarded for long service to non commissioned officers and enlisted personnel.

    It is awarded in two classes.

    The first class is awarded for a minimum of fifteen years' good service, while the second class for ten years' service.

      So, everyone who earned a First Class had a Second Class already. Did he get a second medal or was the chevron added to the ribbon to signify '1st'?

        You will first get the 10 years service medal and the "V" is added after the guy got 15 years of service. So it is one and the same medal.
        The 20 years service medal for NCO and enlisted is blue and black.
