Very nice. used to be quite common to see cdn servicemen with that one up, as we sent a good few personnel to that mission over the years.

Nice to see some UN militaria . These things are not often seen in collections.

Here is my small contribution: some items from my collection. Beside the UNEF medal, there are also some other items connected with yugoslavian servicemen in UNEF.

I suppose that it was common practice in the period of UNEF I mission to wear metal badges on field caps. I have seen photos of soldiers, who wore UNEF cockardes as well as metal UN badges on their field caps. Here is one photo from my collection where you can see metal UN cap badges on the field caps:

I have not seen jet any photo of yugoslavian soldiers from UNEF I mission, where they wore cloth UN patch on their field caps. IMO the practice of wearing cloth UN patches on fields caps started later, after UNEF I.

              UNEF cockarde:

                  Thx., Sebastijan !

During my time on the Golan-Heigts in 1991 metal badges only were worn on berets.

                  Regards,
                  R.

Did anyone know why the UN always use the same medal model and only change the ribbon color from a mission to another ?

I had always lack interest, as a collector, for those medal because I would feel like having 20 time the same medal with a different ribbon.
