Apparently they call this "Crois de Guerre, theatre made version", it's not an original medal.

Looks like a cast single piece construction. Not official by any means.

Really? Man, must have been the worst quality medal ever. I have seen a few of those been sold as "theatre medals" (read fake) on the web. These are absolutely awfully made.

These medals are well known. They were made in North Africa circa 1944.

Thanks for your opinions.......much appreciate it

              Still two other questions:

              - Am I wrong if I say, the Croix de guerre is the French equivalent of the iron cross?

              - Are those North Africa made ones rare?

                    Definitively 100% wrong on that.

No real equivalent on the German side on the UK side it would be the same as 'MID' palm (mention in dispatches)

The Honour roll clasp might be sort of the same but that was a very specail honour only open to officers and could only be awarded once.

The CDG could be awarded multiple times (record is something like 36 times and it could be awarded to a unit as well.

It has also been awarded for not combat duty. The only case of an ICII I can think of given for non-combat /operations related duty was Hanna Reitsch

                      Thank you for the explanation
