Chinese sword?

Working my way through an estate, grip is either ivory or bone, doesnt look sturdy enough to be combat, but perhaps ceremonial or tourist item?

Looks like a tourist item to me.

I agree. Way too fancy for 'real' work, especially blade engraving all the way to the tip like that. And the rings on the hilt look as if meant to hold tassels or other decorations, again niot likley in a working sword.
