    Spanish War Cross

Picked this up recently and don't really know enough about the different makers of this award. I read in another (old) post that there are ones with red berries in the wreath and I wanted to know if anyone had one of these versions that could post good close-ups showing the details.

Nice looking award and one that hasn't "appreciated" very much in the last few years--thank God!

    Thanks!

Close up of the front; the "reddish" areas between the leaves appear to be lacquer that has puddled in the crevices. I assume these are not what the so-called red berries are?

One more a little closer for the people with tired eyes.

Better show the reverse while I am at it.

Appears pretty standard. 5-rivets and no extra securing pins which I heard was seen more on the later pieces, but again, I do not know this for sure.

          Any help greatly appreciated!

Hi Tim - nice find . Yours looks to be a 'classic' Spanish-produced badge of the Spanish Civil War period. Here's a link to mine I posted about a month ago:
            http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...d.php?t=161196

These were also produced by a few German badge manufactures. I've seen a picture of one with the Mabauer mark on the reverse.

Update: Here's another good thread on these badges: http://gmic.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=7077

              Scott,

Many thanks for the excellent PICS of a beautiful piece you have there!

Appears there are several little variations of the award manufacture. So far I like the one I have and the style you have (w/red berries) the best.

Thanks for the links as well; I was a member of the other site too, but had difficulties posting last year from my work locations and didn't really pursue it further. I know there are a lot of old members from here over there as well. Might have to update my membership there as well.

              Thanks again!
              Tim
