Please email me for the picture of the buttons. My email address is Scorpion75m@aol.com. I brought some Lavtian Mitilary Items from a woman in Latvia. All of the items are Orginals and from the 1920`s to 1930`s. Most of the buttons and photos. I was able to tale what there were. One of a group of Lavtian soldiers around a Maxim MG. Now it is a pair of buttons that have the marking of a German maker on them. Assmann. Now I know that Germans trained the Lavtian Army at the end of WW1. I know that that when WW1 ended on the Western Front, and the defeated German Army started that long march back over the Rhein bridges, the German command in Latvia was still intact, and functioning, and actively engaged with the Bolshevik Army! Not only were they still armed and fighting, but the Latvians asked them to stay! In this capacity, the isolated Germany army, to maintain order, and to secure a path for the long trip back to Germany, attempted to defend Latvia, and build the Latvian Army back to a level where they could maybe fend for themselves. This came to an end I think in 1920, when the stranded German garrison signed a truce, and secured safe passage for the Army to march all the way back to Germany proper. The woman said to me that they were just post office buttons from but I highly doubt it. What would anyone make of this?
