Thanks for the comment on the jacket, and a special thanks to Richard (BTW, it is not written 310 but 3.10)

Patrick, I have picked up that shirt about three years ago through one of my favorite dealer. It was with a lot of junk. The shirt was really dirty and smelly to I was really glad to get it ! It is one of my most complete ARVN infantry shirt.

Here is an other one I really like :

The back has been repaired on 3 or 4 places but...
Here again is a color tape, white.

      Hi Jeff

well i think you have more then a few things, your ARVN ranger helmets are a killer, is it possible to get close shots of the painting? and the advisor with the skull, well what can i say, superb. I cant wait for more pictures

well its hard to find stuff in Nam, but with luck you might get a piece once in a time, as a tourist you can forget it ( because you never on the same spot and you always move from city to city, and it s better to know the language so you dont get fooled arround to much), when i was there it was pure luck, it s like flea market right time at the right place.

      Chris

thanks for the link, i will check it out.

      cheers

Different style but very desirable too.
I came across a lot with different things amongst which those two shirts.

The construction of the patches is very different on the shirts.
Small thread are visible on the top of one pocket to fix the rubbans.
Metal ranks used to be pinned (from what I know, it belonged to the 2nd Inf Div commander, a colonel, and it is as early as 1963/1964).

If I remember well, whereas two shirts on the lot are tailor made, those two are US.

i cant take it anymore , it s to much, for me today.

But on the other hand it great to see that stuff appear from time to time and that i might have a chance to get one myself, i dont loose hope.

and the best is that you have them in your collection, even if there are not mine, it s like its staying in the family, as we are friends.

              Thanks for posting NTS

              Cheers

                Hi all,

3 more amazing items from NTS!

The khaki shirts are just superb. The NPFF shirt is remarkable also.

I can't recall this image being posted, but here is a great period photo of fully badged shirts which like the one posted by NTS is just what every collector wants.

Note the spider pocket patch just visible on the man in the foreground too.

And the rank slides,ARVN Ranger badge, battalion numbers tape on the shirts... the unit/school(?)badges etc...

                Patrick.

PS. Meant to ask earlier...NTS, is your shirt a light or heavyweight fabric?

do you see the guy in the back wears a name bar and not a name patch.

                        Hi Alex,

                        glad you still like it.

I have just had some quite remarkable news via e-mail regarding the ARVN Ranger Advisor shirt with the coloured "tape" i posted earlier.

I am collating (and digesting) the information and will post details soon...

I love that photo Patrick ! Alex is right, I had not noticed before but the name of the guy in the left is on a plastic bar (might be green).

This is a nice beret also... This color is actually the most difficult to get. I have only bought one since in VN...
The blossom ranks are sometimes big (like here) or of a smaller size (standard).

I may be wrong but for me the rank system changed in late 66.
Before that date, you could have 1, 2 or 3 blossoms in gold or silver color.
For example : 3 "gold" would be Cpt, 3 "silver" would be Colonel.
After the system changed and Major, LtCol, Col would have a bar under the blossom.

Could you tell me what you think about this theory?

                              Another question :

Here are two early war berets.
For me the badge is ARVN, not Cao Dai as often stated in books.
                              Do you recon that?

from what i learnned is this not the old infantry insignia ?
