    Reproduction M16

I recently bought a reproduction M16 from WorldWarSupply as it was the only one currently available with the correct pin in the back. So I was excited to open the box when it arrived. It is nicely done but I was shocked when I set it next to my only original. I knew it was smaller from the picture on the sellers website because of the extenders under the brow shield mounting posts. My original is marked Si66 and the reproduction measures out to be a 64. So I expected it to be scaled down in every dimension but, when I set the two side-by-side, I startled to see that the bill on the reproduction was about 3/8th or more higher off the tabletop than the 66. So than I set it next to my M35, also a 66, and the bill heights matched but the projection of the bill on the reproduction is much greater. What's going on? Are the proportions on the smaller helmets really different from the larger ones? Or did the people who made the reproductions use the M35 pattern and just add the mounting lugs and extended the bill?

never had a repro but it's anything goes with them. i don't think the makers care about proportion to originals, just so they somewhat resemble the over all look... that said, a original M16 is taller than an original M35 of the same shell size due to a taller skirt on the M16. M35 was an improvement in many ways, one of which was a shorter skirt so it would be more comfortable to wear while crawling on the ground with the wearer's head looking up. yes, M16s were a real pain in the neck that way, literally
