    Externally it looks OK, issue knot. The real test for me, is the ball inside wood (good) or plastic (bad)?

        All my original knots, both issue and private purchase have a wood core. None show a fabric center like yours. I'd vote repro but I haven't seen everything. If repro sure looks good on the outside. Hopefully someone more knowledgeable will pitch in.

          There has been some debate as to whether this type of knot is a repro or a 1930s example. It certainly was not made during the imperial period. They are, in appearance, nearly identical to a period made knot, but internally they have several differences, most notably, later materials.

          The bottom line is that these are not from the period. As to when they were made, well, that is still an unanswered question.

          I have a couple of them as place holders in my knot collection.
