Camo M16 Helmet Machine Gunner Faked?

I've never been into WW1 helmets but this is in a local auction. It has no liner. The paint is thick textured. I am highly skeptical it is original. Your thoughts please.

Those "purple" color panels/segments in the actual auction house photos look really funky.

That insignia is so bad I did not think I needed to include it in my view point

IF this was real I would hate to be captured with this mg symbol painted on my helmet it could get you shot between the eyes!!
