    Bavarian Aviator's Shoulder Boards

Now for something a little bit different- a matched pair of Bavarian Leutnant's shoulder boards. No, they aren't Prussian, the blue has just faded from 80 years. If you look at the button holes you can see the blue coming through!

      Flieger Oberleutnant

      Allan,

Nice to see your boards again. I would be happy to offer them a new home! Would you believe that after all these years of collecting German shoulder boards, I still don't have a M1915 set of Bavarian Flieger officer's boards? Seriously, this is a great set and coupled with the other things you have from this man, a real treasure. Thanks for showing them.

      Regards,
      Chip

        here's my Bavarian Boards

Near mint field-gray pair with white underlay and blue threads. Subdued props. No white flecks, only blue!

          back side:

.. looks like this. Apparently made for Flieger uniforms as there are no prongs showing, they are beneath the underlay.

            Just for giggles........

... Here's my Saxon pair. Again, minty-fresh field-gray, field-gray underlay, subdued props. Again, prongs are between underlay and boards. Funny part of this is I ordered a pair of prussian ones and these are what showed up!
Needless to say, I was most pleased!

.. the last set of devices...

... are gilded "kriegs=metal", showing some typical loss of finish... they were neatly sewn on the boards with f-g thread!

What's the going rate on shoulderboards such as these? I'm a relative neophyte in that area, but I'd eventually like to pick up a set of Bavarian oberleutnant aviation boards.

                        Thanks,
                        Chris
