Great stuff Guys....
Good to know that statue is there, next time we're back in PA we'll make a stop to see him. It's amazing to me that this old statue survived the anti-German sentiment during WWI. Paul, I never realized he was that vertically challenged...sort of like me
A small side bar, according to the plaque, this was presented to the US during Prince Heinrichs visit to the USA in 1902. One of the reasons for his visit was to take possesion of the Kaisers new yacht SMY Meteor which was built in New York and launched in February of 1902. This event was attended by President Roosevelt and his daughter Alice who broke the champagne bottle over the bow of the ship. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ac6XJyXKh2k
Price Heinrich began a whirlwind tour of several Eastern and Midwestern cities which included Chicago where he visited the famed Everleigh Club with an amusing incident occuring during his visit http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Everleigh_Club
I've been doing a bit of research regarding the Princes visit in 1902 and found these two links...the film was produced by Thomas Edison.
