        Could you post more close-up shots of the liner band and pads (front and back)? I'm not sure the pads look WW1 era German from what I can see.

          The shell, liner pins, and paint all look good... although it has been cleaned inside and out. Unfortunately, the liner is a bad addition to this shell. Look at how off-centered the drawstring holes are in the finger tips of the pads. I think I can actually see ink around some of the tip ends where the pattern would have been traced and cut. The liner pads are a bad cut and show no wear. The white thread around the liner band is pretty bright. Good shell, bad liner.

            Liner is bad. Gran you have such great luck at flea markets I'am sure you didn't pay over the odds.

              As I looked at it I noticed the liner pads are in really good condition for a helmet that's obviously sat for some years in wet or very hot conditions or a combination of both. Can't be out of the wood work considering.
