    Chaplain's Schirmmütze

Does anyone own an original Chaplain's Schirmmütze? If yes, could you please post a photograph of it? Thank you.

About the only place you are going to see these are in books. There are a couple of nice ones from the collection of the Bavarian Army Museum shown in Kraus's book, "The German Army in the First World War..."

Would this be a typical Chaplain's Schirmmütze?

I'm not sure that this would be typical. The ones I've seen had the two cockades in their usual placement with the cross in between. Its possible that the regulations changed, or that this particular priest was trying to make a statement regarding church above state...

No. Father Anton has his cross above the Bavarian cockade. The cross should be centered inbetween the cockade and the national one. The large scale cross is perfictly correct, but the placement is wrong. You see three styles of crosses for this timeframe, the large style, medium, and the small version in Joe's photo.

The funny thing is, in Anton's photo album, he wears the cross properly. Strange he would change it.

There is also a Jewish Star that was worn by the Field Rabbi's.

Are there any pics of Field Rabbis or examples of their headgear about?
