    I assume a good number of unissued helmets ended-up here as well. Apparently, this is in London in 1919. No Ulans here, but that definitely doesn't stop me from wanting to raid that wall of 'haubes!

        A really superb condition wartime ulan, Kirby, congratulations. A definate "keeper".

        It's a wartime variant with the tin removeable mortarboard, and it has the line eagle frontplate on it. That's what makes it a bit harder to find, in my opinion, and experience. And the wooden toggle for the fangschnuren (cords) is still intact on the top of the mortarboard. Oftentimes the toggle is missing. Your late friend had some great helmets in his collection.

        The chinstrap looks to be "mint" condition, that's awesome!

        Usually these enlisted helmets had the metal grommet eyelets on the liner tounges.
