Does this look like an infantry 1909 ammo pouch?

Not sure how many dividers or how wide it should look. It's apparently dated 1917 Berlin on the back. Too bad it has writing all over the insides.

Trying to figure out if I should get these.

From that angle, it looks like it could be a M1909 pouch, the deviders are correct and the construction looks ok, my first impression was that they are Turkish, but if they have the correct Berlin and 1917 marking on the back, they should be good. Normally, any markings on the inside can be a bonus, but I can not make any scense of these.

My impression of the markings on the inside is that they were later owners, maybe kids, markings. They look relatively fresh in ink, maybe just decades old rather than 100 years.

The dividers look good to me also. These ammo pouches are still pretty easy to find, and are inexpensive. This one doesn't appear to have any post war issue markings. If its complete and in good condition overall, and the price is fair, I wouldn't worry to much about the writting on the inside of the covers. IMO, it does however lower the value a little though.

They aren't in super shape, but if the price isn't too high, I wouldn't mind having them until I can upgrade. Although I hate upgrading.

It just seems like most of the pouches out there are cavalry versions.

They're not a matched pair if that's what you're looking for, but they do look good to me. These pouches also appear to be in their original configuration and not reworked. Many of these have been resewn, riveted, reissued, etc., etc.

The perfect pair would have the same maker and date, and same amount of aging and wear. Actually finding these would be next to impossible. It depends on how fussy you are, and how you are going to display them. Realistically, none of this gear would have matched on the Soldier in the field anyhow, and would probably be in worse condition than these. I wouldn't have a problem setting up a belt with these two pouches. Good luck with the purchase.

Yeah, as long as they look pretty good, I'm not terribly worried about them being perfect. Ideally I'll end up with an upper torso Imperial soldier (sans the tunic, as I'm likely to never find an original one I can afford).

I would imagine that by 1917 or 1918, your average German soldier on the line looked pretty rough by way of equipment. He would probably have damaged or lost things over the years and scrounged up whatever he could find.
