    A strange Stahlblechhelm Baden...

This helmet has some strange features... Normaly the stahlblech helmets were produced in one piece, this one is also made that way...
    The rest is something different:
    - Black factory paint instead of the normal fieldgreen
    - Messing rim on the front visor instead of standard steel rim
    - Rear spine instead of no spine
    - A very strange and (at that time) expensive chinstrap
    - No markings at all

It's the first and only of its kind I've ever seen, maybe someone has some documentation on this special haube?

    Thanks in advance,

    Adler 1

Blimey, when I was a kid I used to see these in antique shops in England.
Are,nt they 'Thin Tin' pickels made lighter than normal so the wearer could mold it to fit his head.
If I remember the ones I saw were all painted black and also the brass is not unusual on these. I used to think they were copies, I should of known better.

Thank you very much for your comment Eric!
The "Thin Tin" you are writing about, means in German "Eisenblech". This one is a "Stahlblech"...
I know there is some discussion about "Eisen" (iron) and "Stahl" (steel), but generally the Eisenblechhemet is made in 3 pieces and the Stahlblechhelm is made in one piece...

        Hello Adler
Yes of course, I just meant its thinner. Is it a lot lighter than a normal stahlblech?
The reason as you know these types were very unpopular among troops being basically round on the head and uncomfortable.
Forgive me Iam not a haube expert but I thought they made your black helmet for a very short period, early war? to try and give the helmet some adjustability.
