Prussian Belt buckle

Hi guys
I've had this buckle for a number of years,it would be one of my tidiest ones from that era.
It doesn't look like its seen much use if any at all,it has a heavy zinc coating on it.
Any comments are welcome,thanks

"BAG" is the Prussian guard clothing and equipment supply depot.

This buckle could have come from one of several engagements where the New Zealand soldiers were up against one or more of the Prussian guard regiments.

Interestingly the buckles are always zinc coated rather than a painted type, this being the 5th example which I have seen over the years with the "BAG" depot mark also on the leather tab,

An excellent buckle w/great Maker/Date & Guard Depot issue markings on the tab! IMO: The steel 2-piece construction ones are certainly a lot harder to find as well. Congratulations!

I'd love to have that one in my collection! I was drooling a bit while looking at the pics. Thanks for sharing it with us!

I've seen another one almost identical to this one with the same maker and BAG marks, only dated 1916. I wish I had picked up more Prussian buckles with leather tabs back in the day. Back then, Prussian examples were not of much interest and could be gotten cheaply.

This was my first World War buckle which I got about 14 years ago and you are right I did get it quite cheap compared to todays prices.
