      Hello guys,

      I'm still on the hunt for nice WW1 equipment and I found the following items
      for sale on the internet and I would like to get some opinions on them prior
      to buying.

      First up is a canteen. Can anyone point out the model? Is it complete?
      Is this model usually dated or not?

      Second is a tent pole bag with 3 tent poles and 3 tent pegs. A good set or not?

          The Zeltzubehörbeutel is missing a closure button and the tie down rope. Otherwise, it is fine.

          The canteen has problems. First, I think perhaps the cap is not a match for the body of the canteen. The leather harness is also not meant to go with that cap. I don't see anything to connect the two. Is the body of the canteen steel, aluminum, enameled? I think I would look for a more classic pattern, either M15 or M17.

            Thanks Dave and Chip for the feedback on the canteen! I think I will pass on that
            one. I will have to think on the tent pegs set because it's kind of expensive (100 GBP)
            and I think I can find it cheaper because I see them on ebay all the time.

            In the meantime another canteen has got my attention and I think it's 100% ok.
            I think it's a simplified model 15 canteen which never had the back strap (look at
            the scan from the book). Enamel body. What do you think about it?

            And I found a nice (matching!!!) pair of M1909 ammo pouches for sale. The only
            bad thing is that the dividers are missing. What do you think? A nice pair?
            The only thing which got my attention was the extra metal ring around the
            hooks of the ammo pouches, has anyone seen this before?

                  I'm hoping for a comment from Chip I think the pouches are Bulgarian myself I would skip those I have one similar that use at historical events they are not worth very much imo.
                  Be careful on ebay a lot of those tent sets come from the East and were reissued there post W1 offered by east sellers not quite the same as buying correct W1 German. rgds

                    I have no idea Dave...

                    While I'm negotiating for the last canteen I showed in this thread I already
                    bought myself a nice set of 3 dated tent pegs and a nice '16 dated equipment
                    strap with faint regimental markings.

                    Also, I accidentally found a very nice '18 dated enamel canteen cup made by Bing
                    today which I will probably put for sale soon on the e-stand.

                    Also, it's kind of fun to see this thread growing every day because we
                    get to discuss every single piece of equipment as I'm still in the process of
                    learning everything from WW1 stuff (man I thought WW2 was difficult).
                    Of course feel free to show as much of your stuff as you like as comparison
                    and learning material!

                      The canteen is a nice M17. You don't see them that often with the cap strap intact. Is it missing the button on the back that the leather attaches to? Easily replaced, just curious.

                      The pouches look odd to me too. I'd wait for a better pair.

                      The strap is a pack strap for the Kochgeschirr. You need two.

                      The metal tent peg is a Zeltpflock 15.

                        Hi Chip,

                        Thanks again for your answer.

                        I will definitely pass on the ammo pouches.
                        The canteen doesn't have the button but that's not a big issue as the
                        canteen itself is really nice!

                        At the moment I have 4 items coming my way:

                        * The M17 canteen
                        * 3 Zeltpflocks 15 (dated 15 15 and 16)
                        * Riemen for Kochgeschirr
                        * A nice Tornister / Affe (dated 1915, see pics below)

                        I will definitely have to take some new pictures from my WW1 stuff when
                        I got all the new stuff in! My mannequin is steadily taking shape! ;-)

                          And what do you think about this tent pole bag guys?

                          It's an original one without doubt but what about the fabric straps?
                          Don't these need to be leather? Or did these also exist with fabric straps?

                            Canvas straps are OK. These look like webbing, but I don't see any leather stains like you see around the buckle leather. Normally, you will see stains on the cloth from the leather. So, I don't think it ever had leather straps.

                            That also is a good Hersteller, which I have seen many times.

                                Hello guys,

                                I came accros these boots and I wonder if these are genuine WW1 manschaft boots.
                                The sewing is on the side so this is already good. Let me know what you think!

                                Yesterday I put all the equipment I have bought so far on a mannequin and it
                                looks great already! I'll post some pictures later on.

                                Thanks!
