The shell Ken sold me refubished was bought as a shell with absolutly no paint on it. There was no harm done. I was just saying what shells will sell for.

As for this last auction I think it was still a sleeper. Any auction during the week before most people get off work is not a good time to have it end. Helmet went for less then the one from East Europe.

Did any WAFERS get the Bluey?

I see the 'Bluey' sold for $765.
Thanks W, I was hoping to get it for 50 bucks!!!
I think most collectors know a good cutout shell when they see one.
      Cousette
I know a little bit about metallergy myself. Its not that easy to turn an original M18 ET64 into a 'cutout' that would deceive. Certainly something the size and pressed shape of a helmet. It takes more than just a blowlamp. You would have to super heat the piece evenly followed by a control cooling to untemper the helmet so it does,nt crack. At this point all you have is soft steel to do what you want. The faker would probably not do the next step. Reheat rapidly followed by a retemper process. Basically.
Iam sure we are all familar with the trimmed skirt jobs that seemed to have dropped off the radar. But they are warning signs there,s a Transitional on a sister site that gives me the creeps. An unmarked Third Reich painted up job. I,d like too try and bend it. If it bends its a fake!

Homer (the seller) was happy with what he got for ol "bluey". After all, he said he only paid a few bucks for it at a garage sale. Somebody started pumpin his head with a $900.00 - $1100.00 range though...

Iam happy for the seller. A "What you see is what you get" type. Iam with William he should have ended his item tonight when all us 'Nutters' have finished work.

Are you guys gonna be mad at me when the Tunic goes for only 3000 or so too?
There is no other way to post a helmet from ebay as I cannot drag photos off there anymore. I'd have had to request photos and seriously did anyone of you advanced collectors really want a repainted blue no liner cut out?

            50 bucks? Hahahahaha right.

Last time I decided not to post an auction it turned out to be a good square dip that was pulled and sold for a grand after what two days? There are no sleeper auctions anymmore unless you count this one

Your right of course. No sleepers anymore.
I didnt care too much about the paint. I thought if ever there was a helmet ripe for a restore job this is it. It could,nt hurt. The damage has allready been done.
I miss my Baer,s book cutout. Any of you Guy,s got it?

While we all wait untill next week and try to sleep at night waiting for pictures of Chuck,s 'mystery?' helmet. I,ve a confession to make. I just bought that 'Buy it Now' camo off ebay thats been lurking there for over a month. I know its expensive but I felt sorry for it and I think its a size 68!

My interest in it was purly analytical in nature, that's why I posted the two cuts outs for discussion. Eric and I discussed our top ends bids each offering to stand down if the other wanted it. Eric said he was willing to pay less then I would have but after the price went past 350.00 I had no reason to place a bid anymore so did not.
I think I can pick out a good cut out at a glance now. I feel good about that.
