    no good

The first in slovakia, is the best of the two. But no good.
The metal hem (fold ?) is irregular and less wide at the level of the cut out in comparaison to the others parts.

And You made a cut out with a blowlampthe the paint is burning and you need to repaint the helmet.

A new paint is never a good sign.

And for the second, the metal don't seem to bee the good alloy. The metal is ultra-sine. I' m affraid it would be a new product...

Not sure about the first one as I cannot view the photos on my browser but the secod one is fine. Everything is correct and I have asked the seller is the ET64 stamp is visable still waiting for the word.

I don't know how you can tell metal composition without taking a sample.

Have already seen you scratche) shone so on an authentic helmet?
In the best case quite scratches were made in the week (because no oxidation).
A new painting, new scratches, nothing disturbing...

And think you not that the new copies, they not good markings. Look for the salesmen of copies and ask their the question.

Scratches on an authentic helmet and a repainted original shell have nothing in common. While the scratches seem to show new metal under the paint the older rust also shows older age.
You must also consider two or three coats of paint of differing coloros. Maybe white or silver. Can't say unless it was in my hands.

Copies are copies and I have not seen any that got the cut out and flare correct.
The Blue cut out is an original shell. The shape and flare of the cut out is good. To dismiss these details and focus on the scratches alone is not productive to figuring out what we are looking at.

What do you think of this green example?

There are no less than "THREE" layers of different colored paint on the outside of the shell. The inside has been repainted at least "ONCE". Everything else is "GONE". What we have left is an "ORIGINAL" shell only.

The green in a color with a maid skates, but the angle of view does not allow to judge the shape.
                    But it seems correct.

And Chuck has better eyes than me. I had not seen the white paint and thought that it was the metal.
It is really of the white paint?
What is thus the country which marks shells 55/54?
                    Thank you for the information.

And becarrefoul the copy have better and better shape.

                      prices !

Hi, interesting to see that a shell, repainted, sells for $1000 , I'm a bit surprised... what will the buyer do with a repainted shell ? he can try to find the missing parts, liner, chin strap but the paint .... no way ! when the paint is gone that's for ever ....

The paint underneath the blue is silver. The paint underneath the silver is brown. The paint underneath the brown maybe feldgrau. The repaint on the inside appears to be feldgrau. Maybe an early WWII reissue/transitional? Who knows! Like I said, repainted original shell.

It's about the Going rate Chuck. Ken at German Helmets will buy a cut out shell for 500 and after re furbishing they sell for 1,175.00 as I bought one. Soon as i bought it I had offer to buy from me but declined.

Just hard to find in any condition.

you're not telling me anything new W. I stick by my statement...remember its only my opinion. And, you already know how I feel about destroying original shells.
