Ya it's the same guy or collector in Belgium. He's a WAF member here but told me he does not have much time to post or read anymore.

Hey Eric, where can I get an Imperial EM over coat? I hear they run a fraction of what the Tunics and pants run.

You missed a couple excellent buy's on these last year W. Nick sold two nice originals on the estand for under $650.00 each. Good luck with your hunt... if I find anything worth while I'll let you know.

On ebay there is a coat for sale seller says it's what I seek but looks nothing like what I have seen. Anyone know what this is?

            Is it even German?

That is absolutely not a M1867 Mantel. Not even close. Markings are not North German Confederation either.

                It's not German....it's prewar Austrian.

Whats your height and chest size. Just kidding William, really there not that hard to find. For some reason they havent kept pace with other fieldgrey. At the reanactments most guys wear originals, me too. Prices range from $350 to $1000 for a drop down dead Mint job with boards. I,ll keep a look out for you.

IS the pre war Austrain even military?

Guys wear original great coats? Lame! I re enact too but would would not wear original stuff. Maybe I can get one of those re enactors to sell me one. I don't want mint just something for the mannequin. You see I can do a whole mannequin display with no trousers if the coat is long enough Sounds like a good plan B to me.

We dont fight or roll around in the dirt with them, just to keep warm or use as a blanket in the bunkers.
William you bought up a good point for us who have,nt got a million in the bank. A friend of mine has several mannequins made up with greatcoats. He buys repro tunics and trousers and adds original equipment and great helmets from his collection. The result is a stunning display of soldiers looking like they are ready for the Trenches.
I know its not perfect but its something to consider when looking for expensive fieldgrey for your mannequin.
My comment before was regarding the pattern M15 Mantel, the earlier M1894(if I remember correctly) to 1914 in grunt fieldgrey issue with the large collar and patches are very rare and much sort after buy collectors who have 07/10 tunics to complete an impression.

Great war Militaria has several tunics for sale. But unless I take a new job I am not going near those prices.

I'll be looking for a great coat and that will have to do me. But it would be silly to cover up an original tunic with a great coat much like it would be silly to display a helmet cover on anything but a repro or re painted M16
