kugelhelms are all 1915 balls removable?

Hello all, A few months ago I bought a real sharp artillery pickelhaube (kugelhelm). Real sharp, and original throughout. Now, while further researching this particular type of helmet, I've read that with the 1915's (grey wrappen) the ball is removable. However, that's not the case with my helmet. Could the ball top be a repo? It seems impossible, since it's pantina match the rest of the helmet. Also, no sign of tampering when I look in the helmet's interior. One final note, the mill marks around the edge of the base plate exactly match those on my 1914 brass pickelhaube. Any comments are welcomed!

    Hmmm

A 1915 ball should be the two piece construction, the base plate mount and the removable ball top. This should all be made of steel and either painted in field grey primer or parkerized. Pre-war ball tops are brass single piece construction for EM, officers are usually two piece, screw type.
You would need to post some pics for me to see it it is a repro or not.
