picked this up today from the family, What kind of helmet is this? Cant find a lot of info on the web on the plate, ive seen them before but never cared since i didnt own one.The base is held down with screws im sure they been there a long time.Thanks for any help i can get.

This plate is not original to this helmet (which is Hessian), but both are very nice! I'd remove the plate and try to find a nice Hessian lion in wreath plate to replace it...Comment

The plate that's on it now was worn by several of the Hanoverian Infantry Regiments. The one you want is like the one found here, only in brass...
