    WW1 issue cup ?

    Guys i bought this unit marked J.R.140. cup last week & was wondering if this was issued during WW1 & was Jager Regiment 140 a WW1 Regiment?

        Good one Scott,
        Nice clear stamps. 140th (4th Division). Good History including the Battle of Verdun 1916.

            Scott,

            Just so you will be clear, this is from West Prussian Infantry Regiment Nr.140. It has noting to do with Jägers. At that time the Germans used "I" and "J" interchangeably. Think of the "J" as a stylized "I".

                Not interchangeably - the "J" (left) differs from the "I" (right). This always leeds to missunderstandings among collectors.

                In 3rd Reich the upper horizontal "-" at the "I" was left.
