    nice piece, although seeing chin straps over the rim like that makes me cry

      I agree. I took mine (From helmets I get) and hung them correctly but after so many years they are trained in that position. NOT good for their lifespan IMO.

          Excuse me, no disrespect to Vets but isnt that an American GI habit? A lot of German WW2 collectors do that, over time it ruins the strap. I tuck mine inside the liner or if possible remove them.

            You are correct... that is an American habit. I wore mine that way whenever I could get away with it. That's not where the chinstrap is suspose to be though... when the **** hits the fan you're going to lose the lid real quick.

            I received the camo with the chinstrap over the bill. I don't know if the German Soldier put it there, or the Marine. I'll bet it was the Marine or the neighbor he gave it to in 1967. Anyhow, I don't like them up there either. I put it down right after I shot the pics last month.

              That's a beauty! Yes, the chinstrap is in danger, but probably has been there for a long time. I don't think I would move it.
