    Looks like a put together pickelhaube. The spike seems rather high for an enlisted man/nco, among other issues. Not for me.

        Yes, it is a mess.

        I suspect there may be another set of 4-holes for a round spike base hidden by the larger size cloverleaf spike base and the inner reinforcement plate.

        Where's the square-cut visor seen on Bavarian helmets of pre-war nature?

        We can all see how the neck of a former spike has been cut off, evidenced by the ventilator holes still partially visible.

        It's really been "cobbled-together".
