    Is this a Model 1915 Officer's Tschako?

I recently acquired this Tschako in a trade but really know little about it. Is it a Model 1915? Would it have belonged to a soldier in a machine gun unit?

Also, is the Feldzeichen original and what does it indicate? I believe the chinstrap is good too but am not sure. This piece is very different from anything else I own and I'm just hoping I made a good trade! Any information is appreciated.

Not an officer Tschako but the front cockade is for a Prussian Officer while the Tschako itself if a wartime enlisted model. The liner has been modified or rapaired in some manner and the ends of the normally rounded leather fingers have been trimmed square. I cannot read the unit markings on the back of the liner but these may indicate which unit this enlisted man's tschako was issued to.

Machine gunners and other units (for example) Jägers were issued these. If there are unit markings present, that would give you that information.

Yea... I am afraid the finger ends of the liner were torn so some clever bunny cut them off and punched holes in for a cord. The Feldzeichen, well, compare to an original on this page and make your own conclusion.

Thanks for all the information so far (especially for the above links). Taking into consideration the tips of the liner have been cut and that the correct cockade is not present what is the approximate value of this piece? I just want to make sure I didn't take a bit hit on it.
