    1916 Navy Jumper

    Hello,
Looking for some info on this 1916 dated naval jumper. Looks like a work jumper to me. It's also more gray than it appears in my lousy photos, but I had to take these indoors as there is no sunshine in Europe these days. I just wanted to see if anyone knew whether these were used by any particular part of the navy, or is it just a normal color variation of the white jumper. I know little about Imperial Navy items.
    Thank you,
    Dale

Nice drill jumper. Not sure about the color, but a lot of variation probably existed. These jumpers could also be used with the detachable collar if so ordered.

You are correct about the dearth of information concerning imperial navy uniforms. I think this gray canvas jumper is indicative of a wartime model and as you say, is most likely a work/duty jumper. My guess is that these were worn in conjunction with the gray canvas caps, which one sees primarily being worn by the naval land troops (infantry and artillery).

I have a white canvas one and a collarless one made from an undyed natural Drillich material.
