The marking LG 11 is for the rural police of Prussia. Landesgendarmarie. They came in a foot and a mounted component. So this one is marked for a foot police organization. Hope this helps.

It looks like this helmet may have started out life as a Landgendarmerie helmet but it has been modified into a Feuerwehr helmet. The mounting holes for the spike and Wappen have been plugged and a leather comb has been added. It appears to have last seen service in some local FW organization.

....and this Land-Gendarmerie was locatet in Thueringen, City of Erfurt.
and the poor cityfirebrigades hat no money to buy new helmets for their members - they transform old militaryitems and so to wear. This is a practice that is daily find im old firebrigademagazins.

Since the neck flap, cockades, and comb have been added I would suggest leaving this helmet as is and not try to "rebuild" it to its former condition. Its use as a FW helmet is part of the history of this particular helmet. I doubt if you could find all the necessary parts to reconstruct this helmet back to its original condition and you would certainly damage parts of it trying to remove the current additions.

No, your fittings are for a Prussian Army helmet and are not proper for the Landgendarmerie helmet.

                  .....

for this helmet...really? How can you know that?

Here my Landgendarm helmet (footed). The chin-strap should be not there, a golden flat chain for Knopf 91 would be better...

Leave it as is!!! In the current form it is likely rarer than your typical spiked version.

It would be like taking a camo helmet and stripping the paint off to return it to the original form.
