    Hello,

For me there is something wrong on the "artillery" one. An M95 for artillery is without the vent hole on the back spin. So I think the ball has been put in place instead of a spike. We can for sure also think that the raer spin has been replaced by a wrong one but in this case you shouldn't have the hole in the leather. Can you do a picture? If there is additional marking it will also help to decide but it is more easy to replace a spike that to change the spin!

For the second one, It rings lot of bells to me too... It looks a mix of everything!

The 3rd is from far the best one as it is untouched, no one as messed with it! Too bad that the chinstrap and cocade are missing :-(

Any way I would have also be really happy to get them :-) Lucky you!

I don't know. I lean more towards James. The 1903 Bekleidungsordnung is clear about no ventilation, but it only talks about Field artillery not foot artillery. This is well backed up by the Wunderlich catalog. While this is been discussed@Pickelhaubes.com, the question is was there anything official for these helmets after 1903?

        Hello,

I trust you on this, the problem foot/field artillery is not easy and will for sure be discuss again (I will not for my part start an argue on this, it is beyond my knowledge). To put it in an other way which is only involving myself, I will say that without regimental marking on the helmet and the way the rivets are holding the ball, I will not myself buy/consider this one as an artillery.

sorry for the late reply..... been busy.......
picture.....sure, but i'm not sure exactly what you want a picture of..... when you say "the raer spin has been replaced by a wrong one" i have no clue what you mean..

here is the complete 100% compiled knowledge base that I have on pickelhaube's....
          1. they are German, and i wanted one!

          2. since i was a child i thought that this type of helmet was the most awesome, incredible, astonishing, thing ever designed to go on your head. I mean when i saw one of those scratchy 10 second film reels with hundreds of soldiers wearing these spiked amalgamations it scared the sh*t out of me! when i was 4 or 5 i thought they gave the weares super powers! (three days ago i found out they don't)

and finally 3.... They were way out of my price range.

I just got lucky and was presented with the chance to buy this sweet little 5 piece combo pack of German headgear at a price that fit my budget.

they may not be 100% correct or in mint condition or have mixed components, and may have been modified, but I could not be happier with them.

I don't even care to know what they are worth because i have no intent to sell them (I briefly thought about selling one to help purchase the others if or when they are presented to me, but quickly decided against it for numerous reasons).

I really appreciate all of your (on going) help identifying them and would like to thank everyone who commented or will comment.

If anyone has any questions or would like to see additional photo's, please do not hesitate and feel free to ask.

P.S. I also really appreciate all of the P.M.'s with generous offers to buy, but I do not wish to sell, so feel free to P.M. me, but not with intentions to buy.

          John
