Well Homer, for starters, without the officer's Perlring, it cannot be an officer's. Looks to be a nice heavy Fähnrich helmet with some repairs to the Wappen.

Thanks much. Not knowing very much about Pickelhaube, I assumed because of "chinstrap," it was for an officer but never even considered the possibility that it could be a Fähnrich. That said, does it look complete and original?
What might the value of this Pickelhaube be?

Can someone give me at least a price range for this Pickelhaube?

I'll take a stab and say as it sits with the part loose rear visor that around $1000 would be a (ballpark?) fair price. I think that if the visor was expertly repaired and with everything else seeming pretty nice that it would retail for maybe $1700 and up.

The main thing that I don't have a good feel for is how the fact that it is artillery would impact the value on this one...as I mainly follow the infantry types. By what I have seen it does not seem to impact the more common Prussian models much either way.

Homer, I would save my money a bit longer and wait for a better one. Let's say for $2000 you can find a complete, not messed with, in top condition Pickelhaube. Then you have something nobody can argue about and that keeps it's value...
