Just picked this up today. guy found it hanging in a garage and a garage sale.
Little bit battle damaged and a dent and some rust but lovely just the same. I have never had one with this type of cameo. Was there any significance in the symbol or was this just a field add on? Any one know where I can get a lug to replace the missing one.
This also came with a WWI First infantry Div helm. (post on the us forum)

Looks like a nice one a vet may have added on to. You can get a replacement lug at www.germanhelmetsinc.com

It will be hard to match it up by aging but not impossible. I've never seen any original lugs on the lose for sale.

On second thought! You are lucky the lug is painted yellow as you can rust a new replacement lug and the paint it lightly. Paint more lightly near the end so rust shows through like the other side's original.
