Guys, here is a field-made pickelhaube cover I wanted to list on e-stand but would like everyone's blessing before I list it. This was purchased from Harold Weitze several years ago as a field-made cover that came from a large pickelhaube collector who didn't collect covers. I have never seen this before. I know many types and variations existed and have several in my collection at present. The construction material resembles fine linen or sandbag material which would make sense. There is a drawstring that pulls the cover perfecttly over a pickelhaube. The edges show a clear color difference that would indicate a good amount of usage being tucked under the visors of a pickelhaube. The cover shows some small holes and good amount of usage. I listed the closest thing I have found resembling this cover from the Jurgen Kraus book "The Imperial German Army" that shows a winter white cover. The shape is pretty close. I would love to hear some opinions about it. Please take a look and let me know if the consensus is OK to list on our forum. Best always, Mike.

Jerry, thanks for your comments. Definitely not standard. Certainly possible to be one though. My only other thought could be a cover to ship a pickelhaube in, but that would not explain the wear. Question is any documented proof these were ever field-made? If it is, it must be a rare bird!! Mike.
