Most helmets but not all have size/maker stamps. It's a good helmet stamp or no stamp.

Could you post pictures of one of the vent lugs as seen from the front of the helmet? In the picture it looks like the lug is from a size 64 shell.

The maker and size stamp should be on the inside left flange (as worn), just in front of the chinstrap lug. I have only ever seen one helmet up until now (an M18) that clearly had no had no maker/size stamp at this spot; it mistakenly had it placed on the outside of the flange.

Here's an example of roughly where the stamp should be located. In this case it's fairly low.

Here's a close-up of the M18 helmet which I mentioned earlier. It clearly has no maker/size stamp on the inside flange.

...instead, the stamp has been placed on the opposite side, in other words on the flange's exterior. Only the size "62" is visible.

Is it possible that this is what happend with yours?

Good reply Hans. I have to admit... I have never seen an original WWI German steel helmet that was "not" manufacture stamped as you clearly demonstrate.

                      Is there such a helmet?

very interesting, I never have seen a helmet without maker mark. very faint yes, but never without, or at the exterior of the helmet.

I do have them seen up side down.

I have two helmets with no stamp. One a size 68 and the other a size 70 both M16 or 17's. Post later today if I can.

I forgot my camera cannot capture the detail so no use to post my photos. I swear there are no stamps on them.
