Hi Guys,
Probably the easiest questions ever asked on this forum, but does the number stenciled on a helmet cover always pertain to a regiment, or just sometimes? In this case, I am researching a man with "70" stenciled on his Pickelhaube cover. I'd post a picture but I just realized I need to send Seba some money.
Continuing in the vein of easy questions without photographic back-up, there is a second image of the guy taken shortly after the first and he is wearing a Shako with Feldgrau cover. Any thoughts on this?
The man experienced the gas at Verdun and was Lazaretted. He subsequently died post-war, although his name was included on the war memorial at Friedrichstal, Saar.
I appreciate all comments. Cheers and Thanks.
