    Danish M23 photos and questions

Hello, I didn't know where to post this, so i did it here
I already have two danish M23 helmets, but i found a new one that looks a bit diffrent, so i would like to ask if anyone knew why?
I bought the two helmets on the first photo for 2 Dkr. (0.34 USD)

As you see on the the first photo the helmets have diffrent 'nails' that hold the inside leather, and the front is slighty diffrent.

    Please help me out!

Inside - Half the chinstrap is missing

    Name: K. Andersen

The name K. Andersen close-up. The name has been written with some sort of melted material?

I can't tell on the first one, but the second one (the new one) is a post-war refurbished helmet. The liner is from the 1950s or later.

The lack of badges make me suspect that both are post-war refurbished. The shells are pre-war, but many of these were used for police, civil defense, etc. for years following the war. Nice clean examples however.

These were likely made in different factories, or in different runs at different times. I've seen both types of front rims, and there is nothing particularly special about either one. This is just a result of different dies that were used. So it could be from a different press in the same factory or different factories were used to make the helmets.

The Danish helmet design has a unique shape and most I've seen have a slight bend on the flares that isn't exact on each side. This is probably due to the type of steel used.

I see. I know the black ones are most likely police helmets, the grey ones is civil defense, so i was wondering what the green ones are for?

                Hi Peters
The helmets are Model 1941 used by the civildefense, they are found in green and black color, the shells are similar to the M23,but not so heavy, the danish resistance did use the M41 helmets, that why you can find them with markings from the Danish resistance, the civildefense contiuned to use these helmet after the war,but these are marked in the liner with CF and a crown.
                Cheers
                J.S

Thanks J******248;rn. I can't see any CF marking at all, but the green one is missing half the liner.
My grey one has it all, but no CF markings on that one either. It looks alot older though and has a diffrent leather type inside. The same type as seen inside the military helmets i believe.

Have you got a photo of a military helmet so that i can compare it? I cant be sure of what i find on the internet
I will take a photo of my grey helmet asap. Which wont be soon, as i borrowed my parrents camera to take the other photos, and they just took on vacation and took it with them..
