hey Guys, Glenn here. I dont usually post much in this area but I do dig WWI and have a nice little collection of it. so please excuse my terminology. I mainly deal with Third Reich gear. but my question is;
I have a nice leather/gray fittings EM's infantry spiked hemet and I always wanted an artillery of the same rank. I saw a nice one at the MAX and was contimplating about it when I saw another Guy who had nice spikes too. one was of the felt/cloth (?) type covering instead of the typical leather. I asked Him what was the reasoning for this and He stated the leather style were mainly used in the rear and for your walk out uniform, whereas the felt (?) were for front line action. I have seen these felt (?) ones before ofcourse but personally thought it would be the other way around. was He speaking the truth? were the leather ever used in the front line. any information on this would be greatly appreciated as I am not interested in even trying to obtain the artillery EM's if this is the case. thanks, Glenn PS, I know my chinstrap is a brass fitting one. bummer, I cant find any gray fitting ones. anyone know where I can get one?
