S & L Plm?

Just reading through some of the threads on 1957 WW1 medals. Detlev had one of these (or very similar) for sale recently for around $500 bucks - said to be early 1960's by S & L (but I can't recall if that was certain or "thought to be").

Please comment freely - I got mine years ago, and not for $500.

RE: S&L

Hi James, the lettering and gilding don't look like the S&L pieces I've seen, but production from the 1960-70's, will look very different from todays. They are still making these modern copies for display today. they're nice, they're S&L, they're not hallmarked, but the quality doesn't hold a candle to the old pieces, pre 1918. Interesting copy, nonetheless.

A copy is what I bought it as, even in those far off days of the early 1980's when I was starting out. Certainly not a patch on the real thing (and I've only ever seen pictures). But still better than the nasty flat ones that are out there.

The only copy I (knowingly) give house room to, rather than condemning it to the shoe box in the garage.

I have one of these PLMs. It looks exactly like this one. Mine has an old ribbon with ties. It may be a replica, but it is the best one I have ever seen. I was told by someone that imine is S & L 1957 version too. I purchased mine years ago from Sydney Vernon. I'd post a picture if I could, but I can't.

Wish I had a case for mine.
