    EK1 for review.

    Hi Gents! Good evening!
I would like to know if the cross is original!
Never seen these type of hardware.
Thank you very much for your review!
    Have a nice evening!
    Gian.

    Hi,

Yes, a 100% original twin post screwback with the correct "perforated" backing plate for sewing onto the back of the uniform. I parted with one of these very recently which came from the family of the original recipient. I believed the cross to be very similar to CD 800's, but the twin-post screwback versions tend to be a lot more vaulted.

A beautiful and not common cross.
If you look at the core, they are indeed very similar to Carl Dillenius crosses.

Years back, we used to call these "Flyer's Crosses".
The though being that pilots or air crew would sew these to the uniforms
to avoid being lost. Of coarse we know that that is no way to verify
that these were more popular in the the German flying Corps than in
the army or navy. But it still makes for a great name for this style cross.

I have one of these, in a custom case with a jeweler-made piece of patriotic jewelry to commemorate the recipient's service on the eastern front. Probably my favourite EK1.

Sorry Greg, I'm in the process of moving, so everything is packed in the vault.

That's OK. I hate moving. Hopefully I will never have to do it again.
