    A really neat photograph!

Another find in Germany! This Major has typical Prussian Regular Reserve/Reserve Landwehr Bar. Prussian Crown Order 4, Long Service Cross. But wait! Fresh in the button hole: A Brand New 1914 EK2 AND a Saxon Albrecht Order, First Class with CROWN and Swords. Highly Unusual, to say the least!

    Up Close and..........

.............. personal, the awards themselves! Scarce Saxon award, wonder what he did to deserve it?

      The Long Service........

........... Cross sure looks like the Reserve Landwehr Twenty Year Cross. Another very scarce piece!

        This is the only.........

................ photograph I have ever seen/found, with The Saxon AOR1 with crown and swords, being worn. Alas, no chance of tracing him...

Rick, I can't tell. Are there any numbers on the cover on the spiked helmet? That is a great photo! Mike

To everyone--this thread makes me think.... Ouch!! Why don't we have a Imperial photo heading thread??? Damn--the zinc guys have one for everything but toilet paper collectables. I really think a photo section with uniforms, hats-helmets and awards would be a super thread! Damn--WE might even learn something!!!!!!!!!! Mike

Glad tidings! Befuddled by his recent infatuation with zink, Stogie sold me his Albert Order rolls book yesterday. (Yes, he is THAT far gone-- let us all bow our heads in a moment of silent prayer....)

Since there were so few of the AOR1XmKr, I went through them all. There was only a single Prussian Major dR and a single Prussian Major dL listed-- it was EXTREMELY rare for anyone to reach this rank before or during the war in the reserves.

The shoulder board numbers "47" threw me, since I found no match in an Inf Rgt 47 before the war. I suspect possibly that the number might indicate a Brigade Staff attachment.

Anyway, he was Major der Landwehr (No first name, alas) KRAMER, an old, old senior Hauptmann dLII (Infantry) from Landwehrbezirk Frankfurt am Main, Crown Order 4th, Prussian XX.

He received his rare Saxon Order (note-- no EK1 yet!!!) 15 December 1915 as Commander of Labor ( Armierungs) Battalion 21. Not exactly glamorous-- but no less rare!!!

Great foto Rick, I especially like the way he wears the AO in the button hole. Perhaps he hadn't the time to put it on a medal bar.
Does seem odd he doesn't have a EK I, & yet he has a Crown 4

                  Hi Stogie,

very nice and clear pic with rare awards! Congratulations!
Isnt it much nicer than zinc stickpins?

                  Best regards

                  Daniel
