    KM request ................

Could one of you help me on this subject

A friend of mine has a KM jacket for Konteadmiral (Ing) dated February 29th 1936 but not named.

I am looking for a list of the Konteadmirals (Ing) at this date.

I believe that one possibility is Otto Thedsen, ing. of the firste U-Flotilla in WWII.

    Opinions, ideas .........
    Thanks
    François

    Engineering Admirals

    François,

in my copy of the 1937 "Rangliste der deutschen Kriegsmarine" there is only one officer who could have held the rank of Konteradmiral (Ing.) in February 1936:

Vizeadmiral (Ing.) Hans Fechter. Fechter was promoted Konteradmiral on the 1st of October 1935 and Vizeadmiral on the 1st of November 1937.

Otto Thedsen was still a Korvettenkapitän (Ing.) in 1936.

    Regards
    Glenn

To confirm that it was Fechter: he had a Turkish War Medal which should have loops on the lower RIGHT breast side, as well as an Iron Cross 1st Class 1914 and a 1918 Uboat Badge, which would have horizontal loops.

He was the only engineer to win a Hohenzollern House Order with swords in WWI, for his services on Uboats.

I'd expect a reefer coat like this to have been updated simply by adding a second narrow ring when he made Vizeadmiral (Ing). That not being the case, this may be the jacket of a lower ranking officer (in 1936) who was promoted to Konteradmiral sometime AFTERWARDS. So the actual award loops may be of some help, including length of ribbon bar loops.
